Q. How long has Calmar been in business?
A. Calmar has been making commercial ultrafast fiber lasers since 1996. Calmar started with telecom applications, and has since expanded to higher energy and OEM applications, which today provide the bulk of our business. Read more in About Us.

Q. Can Calmar handle my high volume OEM production?
A. Calmar has delivered hundreds of OEM production units, and understands the requirements of OEM customers. We have recently doubled our facility size to better handle high volume production needs.

Q. Can Calmar customize a laser to fit my application?
A. Calmar often customizes lasers to fit special needs of OEM or scientific customers. Customization can be for special wavelengths, frequency locking, special interfaces, temperature stabilization, and other needs. Please contact our sales office.

Q. What is the advantage of fiber lasers over solid state ultrafast lasers?
A. Comparing with solid state lasers, fiber lasers are very stable due to absence of mirrors and optics. Fiber lasers do not require periodic alignment or maintenance. Fiber lasers are especially useful in OEM applications, where compactness, long life, and maintenance free operation is important. Read more in our Technology section.

Q. Can Calmar’s fiber laser be used to seed a Solid State laser?
A. Our 780 nm fiber laser is commonly used to seed solid state Ti:sapphire lasers. Calmar’s 780 nm fiber seed laser provides compact, reliable, trouble-free operation with ultra short pulses that are clean and stable. See our Mendocino line of seed laser modules.

Q. Can I lease your laser?
A. Calmar will lease lasers for a minimum of 3 months, typically at 10% of full price per month.

Q. Can I get a demo laser?
A. Calmar has a limited selection of lasers for short evaluation. Contact our office for availability.

Q. Does the price include on-site installation?
A. Comparing with solid state lasers, Calmar's fiber laser is very simple to operate. To install the laser, the only thing you need to do is to plug in the wall power.

Q. Can I tune repetition rate continuously for the Eureka actively mode locked fiber laser?
A. Yes, you can continuously tune to any specified repetition rates for our Eureka PSL series laser.

Q. When I tune the wavelength and pulse width for the Eureka PSL laser, will the laser loose mode locking?
A. No. Calmar’s Eureka PSL laser will keep locked even when you tune wavelength and pulse width. Our laser is really easy to operate and stable. This distinguishes our lasers from our competition.
